Bill Allen, the developer of Black Horse Run, had a vision of a peaceful, yet active neighborhood for modern families…an equestrian neighborhood with a convenient location and an authentic country feel.

In 1973, some of North Raleigh's finest rolling farmland was carefully developed into large wooded lots, custom homes, green pasture, elegant white fences and quiet neighborhood streets that end in cul-de-sacs.  Black Horse Run was established as the Triangle's premier equestrian community located within an easy 5 minute drive of the new 540, very convenient to ‘most anywhere that you would want to get to quickly.

Black Horse Run provides a unique view into harmonious co-existence with nature, while at the same time, keeping up with the 21 st century.  Enjoy the equestrian life without lifting a finger or put a horse in your backyard.  Come home to horses in the pasture and, if you want, one of those horses can be yours.  Ride our 11 miles of woodland and creek-side trails.  Train in the lighted, competition-sized riding arena and, if you like, board your horse in the community barn.

Come home to a quick game of tennis or a dip in the pool .  Grill out in the park and watch children play on the playground and amongst the trees.  Down by the pasture, the sunny pond is just perfect for picnics and fishing.  The basketball court is enjoyed by hockey players as well as basketball players.  Our clubhouse is in-demand for private parties, hosted by members and associate members.

Black Horse Run has an active social life for children, teens and adults.
The Mustang's swim team had 100+ members last year and won the Division Championship for the second consecutive year, but most important, the swim team provided almost unlimited summer fun for members and associate members.

Bill Allen was successful with his vision for an elegant countryside neighborhood, but there are only 250 families who are able to live in Black Horse Run.  Keep an eye on our Homes for Sale for opportunities to buy in Black Horse Run.
