About UsBlack Horse Run: An Equestrian Community since 1973
Black Horse Run is the first neighborhood of its kind in Wake County. Established in North Raleigh in 1973, BHR’s neighbors have grown a community that is equestrian-friendly, socially active, and a cornerstone of growth in North Raleigh. Originally envisioned by Bill Allen & Associates in the early 1970s, Black Horse Run has grown from a close handful of original neighbors to a thriving community of just more than 250 custom-built homes.
While BHR was once a more rural community, many other neighborhoods, schools, and other amenities have grown around us over the decades, making our location a prime one for those seeking both space and convenience. In fact, BHR’s easy access to 540 and other main routes gives residents a quick connection to all that the Triangle area offers.
Through decades of cooperative effort, Black Horse Run’s amenities have grown to include:
- A clubhouse and pool for neighbors and their guests to gather
- Tennis and basketball courts
- Playground equipment for older and younger children, plus a picnic area
- Community barn where residents can board horses
- Extensive common areas including acres of pastures
This unique blend of elements creates a spacious, welcoming, and comfortable feeling for residents and guests alike. We know you’ll enjoy the environment and amenities that Black Horse Run has to offer.
